Judy has been dancing for over 50 years and teaching for 45 years. In 1991 she owned, operated and instructed her own dance studio, In 1997, Judy teamed up with long-time friend and confident, Jodie Begeot Record, and transitioned her studio from Judy Gozur Dance Inc. to J & J’s Dance Depot, Inc. Judy is a member of Dance Masters of America and Dance Masters of Ohio. She is certified in the Cecchetti Ballet Method and is a member of the Cecchetti Council of America and the Ohio Chapter. Judy also taught dance at Westminster College in Pennsylvania. She has attended numerous dance conventions and workshops throughout the years. Some of her most memorable instructors and true dance pioneers are the famous Luigi, Frank Hatchet, Gus Giordano and David Howard. As a graduate of Dance Masters of America’s National Teachers Training School At the University of Buffalo in New York, this August, Judy will be attending a week long intense study which will include a variety of the various disciplines of dance. As in the past she will once again have the opportunity to study under the top teachers in the country. Together Judy and Miss Stephanie Barca , continue to evolve our Tiny Tot Program. The “In-House” program taking place at the studio, with a care giver and child, includes development of movement with sensory play. The “Traveling Tiny Tots”, taught in preschools and daycares, inspires movement with learning and so much more. This unique program has grown out of the love and labor of being a “Dancing Grandma.” Tiny Tots has become a wonderful addition to our dancing program.
Throughout the years Judy has earned many credits for her love of dance, not only as performer but as a choreographer. The true love of dance gave her the opportunity to travel and perform in many different places, including Cesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Judy has appeared on local and national television. She was a regular performer for many years on a variety show out of Cleveland, Ohio. She has received many dance competition awards for herself and her students. She choreographed for school dance lines, cheerleading squads, school plays, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, bar mitzvahs and more. Judy not only performed as a Youngstown Pride cheerleader but also choreographed for the semi-pro basketball team. Judy has enjoyed the privilege of teaching dance to students of all different ages from tiny tots through the sensational seniors. A very special joy and reward has been teaching special needs students. Judy hopes that each student past, present and future will look back with fond memories that their own dance experience has given them. Judy’s first love was dance. That “Dance” passion, she believes, is the link connecting all generations together. No mater one’s limitations, there are no boundaries to the joy dance can bring you…she dances for the love of it…Truly she wants everyone to …”Dance for the Love of It”. Judy and her husband Rick reside in Campbell. They have two sons, Rick and Stan. Rick Jr. and his wife Holly reside in Boardman with their sons Ricky III, age 5, and Grady, age 3. Stan and (Miss) Marielena reside in Bloomington, IL with their son Michael, soon to be celebrating his first birthday. We continue to thank our dancing family for their prayers and support this past year.
